University Library Book Drops

There are 2 book drops available for your convenience to turn in library materials when the library is closed.  One book drop is located to the left of the front entrance to the library.  There is also a drive up book drop located in front of the Eskenazi Herron School of Art and Design (735 W. New York St).  If the library is open, we encourage you to return materials directly to the Circulation Desk.  If there is ever a line, there is a book drop slot located to the side of the Circulation Desk where you can return items.  You can also return items at any library within the IU system.

Loan Periods & Borrowing Limits

Borrowing materials from the IUPUI University Library is considered a privilege rather than a right. Lending periods and borrowing privileges vary according to the status of the user, but the use of a valid borrower's card to check out materials implies agreement by the borrower to abide by the assigned due dates and to return the materials in good order. Failure to meet either condition may result in fines and/or the loss of borrowing privileges.

Renewing Materials

Renewals are usually granted for most materials, unless the item has a hold or is needed for reserves.  Recalled materials are ineligible for renewal.
  • Request renewals early to avoid daily fines
  • Overdue materials may be renewed as long as the materials have not been billed, however daily fines will apply if the renewal is not requested before the due date
  • Billed materials will not be renewed
  • The length of the renewal depends upon the status of the borrower and the type of material.
