Our Resume

The IUPUI University Library is an academic library and a community library.

The IUPUI University Library supports the academic programs of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis but opens its doors and collections to the citizens of the state of Indiana and beyond. We exist to help people make connections between the information they find here and their studies, their interests, and their lives.

The University Library is sophisticated electronic environment that still collects books, a place people can find the information they want, including help from friendly librarians who are as tech-savvy as they are book wise. You are welcome to use their expertise to help increase yours!

An excellent general undergraduate library, the University Library also is home to the Joseph and Matthew Payton Philanthropic Studies Library, the world’s most comprehensive collection of scholarly materials about philanthropy. The Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives contains primary resources (original manuscripts and documents, oral histories, and other materials) for the study of the nonprofit world. It also houses a fine German-Americana collection focused on Indiana, the university records of IUPUI, and a photo collection centered on the university and on the state of Indiana.

Please browse our home page to see the online collections we have created and made free to the public: the Electronic Atlas of Indiana, the Philanthropic Resources Online, and the Philanthropic Studies Index. You can browse a small part of our photo collection as well. We are creating more digital resources to share at no cost online, including Indiana Voices, a collection of digital images of Hoosier-written or Indiana-related books.
