How to Obtain a Borrower's Card

Students, Faculty, and Staff of Indiana University should use their JagTag or other campus ID card to borrow books from University Library.

Residents of the State of Indiana over the age of 16 can get an IUPUI University Library Borrower's Card by completing an Indiana Resident Library Card Application and User Agreement (PDF) and providing a Photo ID and proof of current address. Acceptable forms of Photo ID:

  • Driver's License
  • Indiana BMV-issued ID card
  • U.S. Military ID
  • Passport
Proof of Current Address:
  • Lease/Rental Agreement
  • Utility Bill
  • Mail postmarked within the last 30 days
  • Letter from shelter confirming residence, must be renewed every 6 months

Students aged 15 and younger should have a parent or guardian to borrow materials for them.

IUPUI Students, staff and faculty should visit the IUPUI JagTag Office in UC 0127 to obtain their IUPUI JagTag.

Remember! You are responsible for all items checked out on your library card. If your card is lost or stolen, immediately notify the University Library Circulation Desk at 274-0472.

Library users may purchase a replacement IU Libraries Borrowers Card for $5.00. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to obtain an IUPUI JagTag. Contact the JagTag office for more information. There is a charge for a replacement JagTag.


Public Computer Usage

All users are required to log-in in order to use the computers in University Library.

Students, staff and faculty should log-in using their campus network ID and password.

Guest Computer IDs are available to patrons over the age of 16 upon presentation of a valid IUPUI University Library Borrower's Card with the status of Indiana Resident.

  • Students aged 15 and younger, who are not eligible for a IUPUI University Library Borrower's Card, may use their parent or guardian's account, as long as the parent or guardian is present to supervise its use.
  • Guest Computer ID accounts are only for use on the computers in the University Library. Guest Computer accounts are only valid on the day they are issued. You must request a new ID each day that you would like to use a library computer.
  • Groups, such as high school classes coming in for a scheduled tour, should contact the Circulation desk about setting up Guest Computer Accounts for their participants.

The library reserves the right to refuse any Library Guest ID application or revoke any Library Guest ID, if the owner fails to abide by all computing and network policies of IUPUI University Library and Indiana University.

University Library also reserves the right to block the system-wide library privileges of any user if the address on file is no longer valid.
