Off-Campus Access to Electronic Resources
You will be asked for your IUPUI Network ID (username and password) when accessing University Library's electronic resources from off-campus.
If you're unable to access our electronic resources, first check the Common Problems below. If these do not answer your questions, please contact the UITS Support Center: by email email@example.com, by phone at 274-HELP (274-4357), in person at IT 129, or via live chat (available 24 x 7) at http://ithelplive.iu.edu/ and provide the following information:
- Your username (NEVER reveal your password or student ID/Social Security number)
- Whether you are trying to gain access from home or work
- What kind of computer you're using (PC, Mac, Linux)
- Your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
- The web browser you're using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
- Any error messages you receive
I typed in my username and password correctly, just like when I check my campus email or log into Oncourse, but I still can't get into the databases I need.
Try to log into a different library resource or database (in case that one database is experiencing technical problems). If you are still unable to gain access, your Network ID may not indicate that you are affiliated with IUPUI. Please contact the UITS Support Center and ask them to make sure your Network ID shows IUPUI affiliation.
When I enter my correct username and password, I just see this page again.

What is VPN and dial up and how do I use them to access the Library's electronic resources?
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows you to temporarily create or join a private network across an existing public network. A dial-up or PPP (point-to-point protocol) is a technology for connecting to networks over standard telephone lines. Indiana University provides the software online for you to download, free of charge, to establish a VPN or dial-up connection to campus and bypass potential problems of remote access to the Library's resources when using an Internet Service Provider.
I checked out a Guest computer ID from the University Library Circulation Desk, but I can't use it from home.
University Library Guest Computer IDs can only be used at the public workstations in the library building. They do not work anywhere else on the IUPUI campus or for remote (off-campus) access.
Whenever I try to access the library's electronic resources from my (off-campus) computer at work, I can't get through.
Your computer may be behind a firewall, a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. If you are having trouble accessing University Library's resources from behind a corporate firewall, contact your corporate technical support, or attempt to log in from another location.
