Jennifer James, IUPUI Library chosen to receive statewide library award

Jennifer James, IUPUI Library, has been selected to receive the Indiana Library Federation Outstanding Support Staff Award for 2016.  The Outstanding Support Staff Award honors and recognizes a support or a paraprofessional staff person who has contributed to his or her employing library or media center and librarianship in Indiana.   

Jennifer, is on the Acquisitions Team at the IUPUI (Indiana University- Purdue University at Indianapolis) University Library. She has worked there for 20 years. She received a Certificate in Applied Computer Science from IUPUI in 2012. Her work responsibilities include managing monographic ordering including books, e-books, DVDs, and streaming video; managing electronic resources; and, more recently, participating in coding projects for the University Library Center for Digital Scholarship. Computer programming languages she has learned to support her work at the Center include Python, XML, and TEI. Jennifer has served on several committees at the library including being Secretary for the University Library Specialist Group (the support staff organization for the library) and for the Diversity Council.

Jennifer and her husband David live in Beech Grove with their two young children and four cats. In her spare time Jennifer crochets occasionally and reads voraciously.
