Economic Impact of Libraries in Indiana (report issued November 2007)
An Indiana University study shows that for every dollar of public library expenditures, the average Indiana community receives $2.38 in benefits. The study says the total market value of goods and services provided by the state's public libraries is estimated at nearly $630 million. The study was conducted for the Indiana State Library.

Indiana Commission on Local Government Reform (Final Report December 11, 2007)
The Indiana Commission on Local Government Reform has released a report including 27 recommendations for reforming local government in the state. If enacted, the recommendations would reduce the number of local government units by 37 percent and the number of elected officials by more than half.

The Year in Hate (2008)
The number of hate groups in the United States is surging, up 48 percent since 2000, according to a report released from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).  Now there are 888 such groups throughout the country, which marks an increase of 5 percent in one year.
