Summary:
Under the supervision of members from the Client Support Team, the Computer Consultant will provide direct technical assistance and support to customers using the public computer clusters in the University Library. Consultants are expected to communicate using our GAIM Chat System, In-Person Walk-up, or our phoneThey will be required to maintain the public computer clusters areas. Special projects may be assigned when appropriate. Excellent customer service skills are required. The Consultant will be required to work with little supervision. The is a WORK-STUDY Position only. Typical weekly hours range from 10-25 per week.
Essential Functions:
- Answer customer questions regarding software or hardware problems in the public clusters (Oncourse, MS Office 2007, Printing, Audio/Data CD/DVD Burning, IUPUI Wireless Network, and Scanning).
- Troubleshoot minor technical or application problems as they occur.
- Fill the paper and toner for the printers in the public clusters, Reference Area and Philanthropic Studies Library.
- Restock supplies for the public clusters.
- Periodically clean the computer monitors and keyboards.
- Roam the floor every hour to field questions in the clusters.
- Reserve Group Study rooms for student groups
- Perform special projects as they arise.
- Maintain the public computer clusters in a way that is conducive to academic achievement for our customers.

- Experience using Microsoft Office products and WordPerfect desirable

Consultants are assigned shifts at the beginning of the semester and retain these shifts for the entire semester. The consultant job is designed to accommodate students: the schedule is created based on consultant availability and seniority.
Payrate: Student University Library Computer Consultants are paid $7.25 - $7.50 per-hour to start. After 180 hours has been completed at work, a pay raise of $.25 will be given. At the end of the Fall and Spring semester, performance evaluations will be given to determine merit raises.IUPUI part-time hourly staff is paid on an hourly, bi-weekly basis, with no remission of academic fees and no commitment to continuous employment.
