On This Day in IUPUI History: December 7, 1972

December 7, 1972.

On this day, the IUPUI Bookstore concluded its first "Big Book Sale" before the holidays. The event was held over three days--December 5-7--in the Student Lounge on the lobby floor in the Student Union Building. The bookstore ran ads in the IUPUI Sagamore, the student newspaper, which was read by faculty, staff, and students. The ads listed some of the books available for sale, "Just in Time for Holiday Gifts" and just before the semester ended and the campus cleared out before the winter break. Interested in buying a copy of John Kenneth Galbraith's Ambassador's Journal? Or does a book on Marc Chagall attract you? Who could resist a study of The American Burlesque Show?

The bookstore's book sale continued for several more years.
