On This Day in IUPUI History: June 13, 1982

June 13, 1982.

On this day, the Indiana Rose Festival presented IUPUI with its Adams Award in recognition of the campus's efforts toward city beautification. Scott Evenbeck, then associate director of administrative affairs, accepted the award on behalf of the university.

At the time, IUPUI's Grounds unit of Physical Plant was responsible for maintaining about 300 acres of campus landscaping. The unit had a staff of twenty workers and a budget of $400,000.
