On This Day in IUPUI History: June 29, 1990

June 29, 1990.

On this day, IUPUI hosted a forum focused on the dramatic developments then unfolding in Eastern Europe amid the breakup of the Communist bloc controlled by the Soviet Union. The forum, "Breakthrough: Emerging New Thinking on Both Sides of the Atlantic," occurred in the Business/SPEA building. The Office for International Affairs, the School of Social Work, the Department of Political Science, and the School of Liberal Arts all sponsored the event, which also featured speakers from twelve countries who had been involved in a summer-exchange program under the auspices of IUPUI and the Council of International Programs collaboration for human-service professionals.
