May 16, 1972.
On this day, the Indiana University School of Dentistry dedicated its new five-million-dollar addition to its building with a day-long celebration featuring ceremonies, lectures, and conviviality. The new wing afforded space for additional clinical work, instruction, and research. The addition served as evidence of the growth of the IUPUI campus in its earliest days.
The day commenced with concurrent sessions involving prominent guest lecturers. At 11am came the dedication ceremony in a tent adjacent to the new addition, followed by a luncheon with alumni and alumnae and friends of the school held at Riley Hospital for Children.
