May 30, 1976.
On this day, the Green Sheet, the IUPUI campus newsletter, announced that IUPUI led Indiana University campuses in the number of students enrolled in first-summer-term classes. The numbers were:
South Bend 2451
New Albany 1512
(Fort Wayne, Kokomo, and Richmond had no classes during first summer term.)
The IUPUI figure was a 4.7 percent increase from the previous year. The growth was consistent with the rapid enrollment growth that occurred at IUPUI during the 1970s, a period when the campus expanded physically and enriched its study offerings to meet the needs of the metropolis.
