The ERIC database is availalbe for free from the US Government. University Library also has access to the content in ERIC from two commercial database companies: CSA and EBSCO. Both commerical versions of the database contain the same citation information, so it is a matter of personal preference between the two search interfaces. Using a commerical version will let you use the library's Find It linking services to connect to full-text articles and other library catalogs.
The ERIC database contains two types of material: references to journal articles and ERIC Documents.
ERIC Documents are identified by 'ED' followed by a 6-digit number, e.g. ED234567. ERIC Documents can be conference papers, government documents, theses, dissertations, research reports, books, curriculum units, and many other types of materials. Most ERIC documents published since 1993 can be found in full text. Older documents are available on microfiche on the 2nd floor of the library.
Journal articles are identified by 'EJ' followed by a 6-digit number, e.g. EJ123456. A complete list of the journals covered by ERIC can be found at the Dept. of Education's ERIC website.
Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of 520 high quality education journals, including nearly 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports.
In addition to full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for more than 900 journals.
The majority of full text titles included in the database are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color.
Includes bibliographic records covering areas related to educational administration, including educational leadership, educational management, educational research, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline.
The index contains over 60,000 records.

CSA Linguistics & Language Behavior Abstracts (LLBA) assists both generalists and specialists in keeping abreast of cutting-edge developments in disciplines concerned with the nature and use of language.
The database covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics.
Complete coverage is also given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics.
The database provides abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews drawn from over 1,500 journals, and also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, and dissertations.
CSA Physical Education Index covers subjects ranging from physical education curricula, sports medicine, dance, sport law, kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, and sport sociology/psychology. Health education and physical therapy are also covered.
Records are indexed and classified from peer-reviewed journals, report literature, conference proceedings, trade magazines, patents, articles from the popular press, and many other publications.
Beginning in January 2001, enhancements to the database include the addition of abstracts, e-mail addresses, expanded publisher and author information, and other data to facilitate access to the fulltext.
Access to citations of doctoral dissertations and master's theses.
Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author.
Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts.

CSA Social Services Abstracts provides bibliographic coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas, including social welfare, social policy, and community development.
The database abstracts and indexes over 1,600 serials publications and includes abstracts of journal articles and dissertations, and citations to book reviews.

Stats Indiana Education Page (Indiana)
Developed and maintained by the Indiana Business Research Center at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. This web site contains US Census data for educational attainment for 2000 for counties, cities, and townships in Indiana. It also provides data on school enrollment, graduates to higher education and high school dropout rates.
K-12 School Data (Indiana)
This is part of the official web site of the Indiana Department of Education and contains information regarding Indiana school corporations. Users can compare school corporations, find certain characteristics about school corporations, information regarding ISTEP, and trend data for the State of Indiana. This site also has information regarding assessments used by schools within the State of Indiana.
National Report Card on Higher Education: Measuring Up (All States) Measuring Up 2006 consists of the national report card for higher education and fifty state report cards. Its purpose is to provide the public and policymakers with information to assess and improve postsecondary education in each state. Measuring Up 2006 is the fourth in a series of biennial report cards. Users can also view report cards from 2004, 2002, and 2000.
National Information Center for Higher Education Policymaking and Analysis (All States)
This site allows the user to make state-by-state comparisons in the area of preparation, participation, affordability, student learning, completion, benefits, employment, finance and crosscutting information such as poverty rates, minority participation, transition from secondary to higher education.
School District Demographics (All States)
Based on the both the 1990 and 2000 censuses, the School District Demographics web site from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) provides access to school district geographic and demographic data useful for describing and analyzing characteristics of school districts, children, and K-12 education.
Education Policy Information Clearinghouse
This is an independent, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organization established in 1998. The mission of the organization is to encourage and support the use of more effective state-level education policies to improve student learning in grades p-12, and to continue to enhance opportunities for citizens of all ages.
National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES)
NCES is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting education information and statistics on the condition and progress of education at the preschool, elementary, secondary, postsecondary, and adult levels, including data related to education in other nations.
FEDSTATS
Links users to “official statistical information available to the public from the Federal Government. Users can track economic and population trends, education, health care costs, foreign trade, energy use, etc. Users can access official statistics collected and published by more than 100 Federal agencies without having to know in advance which agency produces them.” (http://www.fedstats.gov/aboutfedstats.html)
National Center for Education Statistics Although the NCES focuses primarily on education statistics for the US, they also have data relating to their activities that provide statistical data for cross-national comparisons of education.
OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Education Database
The OECD is a group of 30 member countries that share ideas on economic and social policies. The OECD “provides internationally comparable data on key aspects of education systems. ... The database covers enrollments, graduates and new entrants by sex, age and level of education, teaching staff and expenditure.”
OECD Education Policy Analysis Contains international information on educational issues such as defining students with disabilities, new approaches to career guidance, and lifelong learning. It also includes a “summary of major education policy changes across a wide range of fields” in its 30 member countries.
UNESCO Education Statistics The United Nations Organization for Education, Science & Culture's Institute for Statistics provides global and internationally comparable statistics on education, science, technology, culture and communication.
World Data on Education
From UNESCO's International Bureau of Education, this databank provides profiles of over 80 countries' national education systems.
ICPSR: Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research "The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), established in 1962, is an integral part of the infrastructure of social science research. ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. ICPSR supplies data files for use with statistical software, such as SAS or SPSS."
Edstats EdStats is the World Bank’s comprehensive Database of education statistics. It makes a variety of national and international data sources (such as UIS and OECD) available in one location, compiles World Bank data on pertinent education topics, and provides links to a large number of education websites worldwide. Results are presented in an “analysis-friendly format,” offering flexible access and custom-tailored reports.
