Education Full Text from Wilson

  • Citations and abstracts from over 500 education journals.

ERIC from CSA
ERIC from EBSCOhost (This link also simultaneously searches other Ebscohost databases listed below)

  • The ERIC database is availalbe for free from the US Government. University Library also has access to the content in ERIC from two commercial database companies: CSA and EBSCO. Both commerical versions of the database contain the same citation information, so it is a matter of personal preference between the two search interfaces. Using a commerical version will let you use the library's Find It linking services to connect to full-text articles and other library catalogs.
  • The ERIC database contains two types of material: references to journal articles and ERIC Documents.
  • ERIC Documents are identified by 'ED' followed by a 6-digit number, e.g. ED234567. ERIC Documents can be conference papers, government documents, theses, dissertations, research reports, books, curriculum units, and many other types of materials. Most ERIC documents published since 1993 can be found in full text. Older documents are available on microfiche on the 2nd floor of the library.
  • Journal articles are identified by 'EJ' followed by a 6-digit number, e.g. EJ123456. A complete list of the journals covered by ERIC can be found at the Dept. of Education's ERIC website.
  • Date Coverage: 1966 - present.

Professional Development Collection from Ebscohost (This link also simultaneously searches other Ebscohost databases listed here)

  • Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of 520 high quality education journals, including nearly 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports.
  • In addition to full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for more than 900 journals.
  • The majority of full text titles included in the database are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color.
  • Date Coverage: 1965 - present.

Education Administration Abstracts from Ebscohost (This link also simultaneously searches other Ebscohost databases listed here)

  • Includes bibliographic records covering areas related to educational administration, including educational leadership, educational management, educational research, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline.
  • The index contains over 60,000 records.
  • Date Coverage:  1944 - present.

PsycINFO from Ebscohost (This link also simultaneously searches other Ebscohost databases listed here)

  • PsycINFO provides access to international literature in psychology and related disciplines.
  • Nearly all records contain nonevaluative summaries,
  • The sources include over 1,400 professional journals, chapters, books, reports, theses and dissertations, published internationally.

Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracs (LLBA) from CSA

  • CSA Linguistics & Language Behavior Abstracts (LLBA) assists both generalists and specialists in keeping abreast of cutting-edge developments in disciplines concerned with the nature and use of language.
  • The database covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics.
  • Complete coverage is also given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics.
  • The database provides abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews drawn from over 1,500 journals, and also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, and dissertations.
  • Date coverage: 1973 - present.

Physical Education Index from CSA

  • CSA Physical Education Index covers subjects ranging from physical education curricula, sports medicine, dance, sport law, kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, and sport sociology/psychology. Health education and physical therapy are also covered.
  • Records are indexed and classified from peer-reviewed journals, report literature, conference proceedings, trade magazines, patents, articles from the popular press, and many other publications.
  • Beginning in January 2001, enhancements to the database include the addition of abstracts, e-mail addresses, expanded publisher and author information, and other data to facilitate access to the fulltext.
  • Date coverage: 1970 - present.

ProQuest Dissertations and Theses

  • Access to citations of doctoral dissertations and master's theses.
  • Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author.
  • Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts.
  • More than 600,000 are available in native or image PDF formats for immediate free download. UMI offers over 1.8 million titles for purchase in microfilm or paper formats.
  • Date coverage: 1861 - present.

Social Services Abstracts from CSA

  • CSA Social Services Abstracts provides bibliographic coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas, including social welfare, social policy, and community development.
  • The database abstracts and indexes over 1,600 serials publications and includes abstracts of journal articles and dissertations, and citations to book reviews.
  • Date coverage: 1979 - present.
