  • Delphion (formerly the IBM Patent Server)
    This engine allows you to search United States, European, Japanese, and World Patents by keyword or patent number. This site requires registration before you can use their services. Basic searching is free, but full access to Delphion's services require a paid subscription.
  • Espacenet: Europe's Network of Patent Databases
    Espacenet is a convenient and easy method of searching for European, United States, and Japanese patents. Many of patents are full-text with diagrams.
  • Authorized IUPUI UsersLexis-Nexis Academic Universe: Legal Research
    By using the "Legal Research" selection, you can search patents from 1971 to the present by keyword or patent numbers.
  • United States Patent and Trademark Office
    The government's free, searchable database of United States patents, patent applications, and trademarks. It provides coverage of patent materials from 1790 to the present.
