Government Resources
About Our Collection
The IUPUI University Library became a selective depository library for the 10th Indiana Congressional District in 1979. As a Federal Depository Library, we provide free access to and reference service for publications issued by the federal government. While older materials are found mostly in the paper and microform collection, today the vast majority of government publications are available only on the Internet. Please ask the reference desk personnel for help in finding this material.
The United States government issues a vast number of publications that reflect on almost all aspects of our daily lives. University Library selects those publications we believe to be of most use to our customers. Some of the subject areas that are well represented include census and demographics; crime and criminal justice; education; geography and geology; health; labor; and legislation. These items come in various formats, including print volumes, microfiche, CD/DVD, and online. The government documents collections are located in the Reference Room on the second floor of the Library. Call numbers for government documents may be found by using the online catalog, IUCAT.
The Reference Desk (hours) on Level 2 of the library will provide assistance. For questions requiring extensive assistance, please contact Joseph C. Harmon at jharmon@iupui.edu , the Government Documents librarian.
