 Quick Reference Resources
Quick Reference Resources is a thorough guide to many electronic resources available to authorized IUPUI computer users. It should be your first stop for general reference, including dictionaries and encyclopedias, databases, newspapers, and much, much more.  

 Credo Reference
An exciting new approach to reference, Credo Reference (formerly Xrefer)gives you a complete reference collection from over 50 publishers, powered by a network of cross-references that cut across topics, titles and publishers to provide answers - and new connections - in context. Another fascinating innovation in Credo Reference is concept mapping—an interactive 3-dimensional map of the relations between various topics and subtopics related to your search query. XCredo Reference also allows searching and browsing through a large collection of published references in a wide variety of specific topics.  

 Credo Reference Medicine
This is the link for topic-specific general references in medicine from Xreferplus (see above), a highly flexible and valuable electronic reference available to authorized IUPUI users. The Medicine area includes many medical dictionaries, as well as handbooks and encyclopedias. 

Almanacs and Encyclopedias 

 Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine
The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine is a one-stop source for medical information on nearly 1,700 common medical disorders, conditions, tests, and treatments, including high-profile diseases such as AIDS, Alzheimer's disease, cancer, and heart attack. This encyclopedia avoids medical jargon and uses language that laypersons can understand, while still providing thorough coverage of each topic. The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine fills a gap between basic consumer health resources, such as single-volume family medical guides, and highly technical professional materials. 

Encyclopedia of Health Care Management (RA971 .E52 2004, Reference)
This is a comprehensive work on the business of health care, with up-to-date information across a broad range of issues of interest to in the academic, business and government fields. It includes over 600 entries, and many tables including on Health Care Acronyms, Medical Degrees, Medical Legislation, Medical Organizations and Medical Specialties. This title in available in paper only, in the reference area.

This title examines various types of reference works and information sources, and their use in the health sciences. It is available in paper only, in the reference area

Stedman’s Medical Dictionary (R121 .S8 2005, Reference) 
This authoritative work provides the best standard medical lexicon available to medical and allied health professionals.

Black’s Medical Dictionary
Black’s Medical Dictionary offers 5,000 definitions and descriptions of medical terms and concepts, and includes appendices on health economics, complementary and alternative medicine, common medical tests and address lists of support and professional qualification bodies. It is available online to authorized IUPUI users.
