Mathematics - Print Journals

Most math journals are located on the fourth floor, to the right of the stairs. There are 3 clusters of shelves there. A few items on the fourth flour are located on two back shelves, or are on the left side of the stairs. Location codes below should be read as follows:

• The first letter refers to the cluster to the right of the stairs: Left, Center or Right.
• The number is the number of the shelf in the cluster, counting from the left. For the back row, only the two rightmost shelves contain math journals. These are designated B₀ and B₁
• The last letter refers to the side of the shelf: left or right.

Thus, R3 l means right cluster, third shelf from the left, left side.

Some statistics and logic journals are located on the third floor, to the right of the stairs.

Current issues of journals and government documents are located on the second floor.

Finding and using items listed:

An outline of call numbers with subject breakdown is provided by the Library of Congress. Most mathematics materials occur in the QA “subclass” of the Q’s (science) (click on “Subclass QA Mathematics”).

Electronic Status is indicated by A (access to archival content, often through the JSTOR system), C (access to current issues), or AC (access to both archival and current issues). Publication dates for content having electronic access often differ from the dates of print content available at the library, as listed after journal names. D indicates access to selected articles via a library database. Database content may help to fill "gaps", for example between archival and current content, but often impose an embargo period following publication, for which content is not available.
