 The Gus Kahn Collection

The Michael Feinstein Foundation for the Preservation and Education of the Great American Songbook was started in order to preserve and increase the appreciation of that uniquely American composition of music, lyrics, culture, and history, created by artists of the 20th century such as George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Rodgers and Hart and many others. The Michael Feinstein Foundation is an approved 501(c)(3) and is the first organization devoted solely to preserving this genre of music. We are accomplishing our mission of preserving the Great American Songbook through the building of the collection of musical works that will be installed in a museum/library and through education programs to ensure that the love of this music continues in future generations. We are beginning to achieve our goals of making sure that our children and grandchildren have a chance to hear, see and enjoy the music that we love.
