As the Open Knowledge Librarian, some of my responsibilities include: developing a vision for and implementation of a program of open metadata for current and future Library-supported open content that facilitate opportunities for innovative learning and scholarship through the sharing, repurposing, and reuse of Library data including baseline processes/services that advance use of Library collections as data; increasing visibility of IUPUI research and researchers by creating and leveraging open linked data and participating in related open projects, including the creation of an open faculty bibliography and a Scholarly Profiles as Service model; ensuring the open content hosted by the Library is widely and conveniently discoverable by contributing to external open linked data platforms like Wikidata; and supporting the development of open knowledge by organizing and hosting Wikimedia related events for internal and external audiences.
Prior to joining IUPUI, I worked as a Cataloging & Metadata Librarian at the University of Miami Libraries where I was mainly responsible for providing description and access to physical and digital resources for the Cuban Heritage Collection. I received a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University with a concentration in Web Design/Technology & Networking. I hold graduate certificates in Museum Studies and Information Architecture.
