I was the special collections librarian at the Indianapolis Public Library. I received my MLIS and MA in Public History here at IUPUI in 2018. My public history work involved researching the history of drag queens who performed in the jazz clubs along Indiana Avenue from 1933 through the 1970s. This history speaks to the progressive attitudes that took root along Indiana Avenue and documents the contributions of Black gay men and trans women to the success of Indy's former Black entertainment district. I enjoy studying and learning more about the local history of Indianapolis and Indiana. My current interest involve learning more of the indigenous history of Indiana. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, riding my bike, going to art shows, hanging out with my two cats and getting involved in community projects and activism around the city and state.
