My mind was blown when I found out that metadata was, data about data. The curation of metadata enables us to better understand the world around us, and that is why I love the Morton Civil War Telegrams Project. I am taking digital copies of nineteenth century telegrams, and creating text copies. So essentially, this project is creating data about data derived from data.

Bringing Indiana Libraries and their Collections to Wikidata

IUPUI University Library is hosting a Wikidata workshop on August 21 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Let’s make sure we put your library on the map!

A growing number of cultural heritage institutions are contributing their curated data to Wikidata. Sharing data about collections not only enables new research and creative projects, but also helps researchers find an institution’s collections.

IUPUI University Library Receives Power of Libraries Award

INDIANAPOLIS—SirsiDynix, a library software and technology company, has selected the IUPUI University Library (UL) to be a recipient of the Power of Libraries Award. This is the inaugural year for the award, which recognizes libraries that are doing something inspiring and helping to bring about change in their community. One of three winners, University Library earned this honor for the "I Heart UL" program. I Heart UL is a popular assessment effort that gathers uncensored feedback from students reflecting what they like and dislike about the library.

Therapy Dogs in the Library

 IUPUI University Library and Paws and Think will be hosting therapy dogs in the library Sunday, April 29 - Thursday, May 3, 2018.

Many studies have found that petting or playing with a pet can reduce a person's stress during difficult times. Since finals week is one of the most stressful times in the life of a IUPUI student, IUPUI University Library and Paws and Think will be hosting therapy dogs in the library Sunday, April 29 - Thursday, May 3, 2018. The therapy dogs will arrive at 8:00pm each night and will be stationed on the library's second floor.
