Herron Art Library Host Celebrates Books as Art

This fall, the Herron Art Library hosted a book arts lecture by Ms. Karen Baldner.

Ms. Baldner, a book artist and adjunct professor at the Herron School of Art, gave a talk on The Book Arts Today: History, Development, and Current Direction.

Ms. Baldner grew up in West Germany where she began her studies in the visual arts. She completed her formal art training in the United States, with a Masters Degree in Printmaking from Indiana University. She has taught printmaking, papermaking, drawing, design and bookmaking at the University of Arkansas, Bucknell University, Indiana University and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Karen Baldner has shown her work extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and she is a member of Soho20 Chelsea Gallery in New York City.

Ms. Baldner’s appearance was funded through a grant from the Indiana Humanities Council.
